Samhain Open For Submissions

I just found out that as of February 5th, Samhain is once again open for general submissions. This might be old news to some of you, but not for me. Just thought I'd share. :) Happy Writing! General Submissions Samhain Publishing is now open to general submissions of all genres of romance and erotica, as well as fantasy, urban fantasy and science fiction with strong romantic elements. We are refocusing our efforts and will no longer be accepting submissions in other genres for the time being. All submissions must be new material to be considered for publication, no reprints. Once you’ve had a new work accepted by Samhain, you are free to submit previously published works to your editor for consideration. Only one manuscript at a time per author please! And, if the manuscript is being offered elsewhere simultaneously, please keep us informed of its status. We encourage you to let your muse have its way and to create tales that don’t always adhere to current trends. One never knows what the next “hot genre” will be or when it will start, so write what’s in your soul. These are the books that, whether the story is based on “formula” or is an “original”, when written from the heart will earn you a life-time readership. The preferred word count is 60,000 or longer, but we are quite happy to publish shorter works with word counts of no less than 12,000. Any book that glorifies depraved or illegal acts will not be considered. No pedophilia, bestiality, racial intolerance, rape as titillation, necrophilia – no ick factors, please! For more information on Samhain and how to submit your book, follow the links! Royalty and Contracts How to Submit Consider joining us! Editors and Copy Editors Wanted At Sanhaim

Looking for work? Samhain Publishing is looking for content editors and final line editors.

At this time we are searching for motivated individuals interested in working part time (one to two releases a month) as an editor in all genres of romance and erotica. Preference for both positions is given to non-authors or to writers not actively seeking publication/pursuing a career in writing. Anyone accepting a position editing with us will not be eligible for future publication/submission to Samhain as an author.

Duties include but are not limited to reading and responding to submissions, contracting books, editing and finalizing manuscripts, communicating with authors, final line editors, other content editors and Samhain executives about various things such as cover art, excerpts, blurbs, promotion and more.

We are especially interested in finding editors who, once they’ve learned and been with the company for a period of time, would be interested in traveling and attending conferences/giving workshops and talks to RWA groups throughout the year as a representative of Samhain.

Compensation involves both monthly flat fees as well as royalty based pay on ebooks and print books. Residuals are paid on all of an editor’s backlist and pay is monthly.

Interested applicants for the content editor position should email Angela James at Content Editor Employment

For the final line editor (copy editor) position: Copy Editor Employment

Hiring for content editors will be done as I find qualified applicants. I will close hiring once I feel I’ve found a sufficient number of editors. Hiring for final line editors is ongoing.
